date: 19 dec 2009 subject: USS Indy Radio Core_plank mbrs meeting notes. [] This was the 1 year anniversary of the 1st exhibit planning meeting. [] 14 of 26 mbrs present: W9IH,Ted-T,N9IZN,N9KZJ,KN9C,W0LPQ,WA9VBG KC9ONU,KC9DTB,NS9F,K9XV & K9GZR,KJ9B,,N9WVV. Items Discussed: [][] Horzontal HF Wire antennas have been approved by Gen Goodwin for permanent installation at the flag poles. _The west wire will remain in place for winter observation. _Both will be permantly mounted / connected to the Bell housing of the respective flag poles in the spring-warmer WX. _Any breakage to these antennas; we would go back to using the flag rope for that antenna untill repairs can be made. [][]Copies of DVD of the Dec 6th TV CH8 live Radio room interview were handed out. _more copies can be obtained from either Sam-WA9VBG or Bob-W9PSE. _plans are under way to use some or all of this DVD for permanent viewing on a monitor in the radio room exhibit and add some parts to our website for friends to see. [][]Work continues on the possibilities of WYFI connects for us to use in the radio room. _internet from the state isnt an option at this time!. (use will be WX & DX cluster spoting) [][]TBK voice amp has been removed to WA9FDO's for repainting... __Im sure it will be a large improvment. _IWM staff & my self continue working on the approval of acquisition of the last 2 remaing Transmitter units for the exhibt. (TCK & TBM -MODulator), should be in WDC-naval historical center? [][] Ted donated a complete (reprint) manual for the PCA-2 Panadaptor...TNX TED!!! _ted had a USN Flash light with him pix on our website... _not sure if I can talk him in to Loaning to the exhibit!!??? [][] Jeff - KC9ONU donated (1 ) cpy of Windows XP for us to use on any computers in the radio room Plus he is donating an older Laptop (windows 98) to the radio room. it will be in the Coding room closet along with the (1) from K9XV... this gives us 2 station ham logging on PC.. TNX _TOM & JEFF. (see daves-n9kzj new tiny notebook too) [][] W9GTA_Pat, has donated the 2nd HF Power amp.. to arrvive soon... [][][] Ham station needs: _HF 1.5 kw roller Inductor tuner or similar...This will allow us to have TWO (2) 1KW stations on HF during OTA events... -plus 12voltdc 25 amps power supply -plus (1) HF tranceiver, Digital readout 100w, needs CAT out jacks, small enough to fit at the Maint desk. [][]QSL Certificates are ready for use...any q's contact W9IH for procedues. _ basic ..Certificate goes to local hams that make 3 or more HF contacts from the IWM location. _On air contacts can receive QSL certificates when they work WW2IND and they are in our log.. must send proper SASE. _The Certificate has two section to complete...make sure you use the correct lines ... [][] Radio man patches are given for : Core_Plank mbrs that:1-work WW2IND 6 hours (SSB mode) -2-for 3 hours (CW) total time inclusive . ..Please log your hours in the log book if your working on this patch.! _ where to display the patch, it was designed as a hat insignia... however some of us have found some great ways to display besides a hat... check out Barry-KW9DW(vest)... its your choice... DONT wait to long to get your time in...they could stop making them ... [][]Gen Goodwin has declared the USS indy radio room exhibit a Permanent & Living Exhibit.!!! Thanks to all the "volunteer Greeter's "... this is 1 one of a kind for Indianapolis. _He really wants to hear one of the AM transmitters / Station on the air ....!!! [][] Our Equipment team has the task of getting one of the AM transmitters on the air for June 2010 "ships Event " on the air. If you would like to help out on this team, contact: W9IH. [][] Restoration work continues on all parts of the exhibit...we are trying different ideas for Dial lights on the RAL & RBA receivers.
